Packer/Wrangler-
The following is a brief outline of duties and requirements for this position, for a more thorough discussion and to apply, please contact Chris:
- Stock care: experience and a strong understanding of the proper care and handling of trail stock in backcountry environments, including hobbling, turn out, round up, and how to safely lead a string of mules
- Equipment care: upkeep, fit, and adjustments of both rider and pack-saddles, bridles, blankets, and all camp gear
- Packing and riding experience: knowledge of and the physical ability to pack mules with loads up to 90 pounds per side, ride extended periods through tough terrain and all weather conditions, possess strong survival skills for wilderness situations and the ability to provide knowledge to camp guests regarding comfort and safety
- Personal skills: Packers and wranglers must keep equipment and supplies organized. They must manage their time appropriately to provide the best experience for guests. They must be able to work both independently and as a team. They must possess good communication skills. They should be comfortable working with strangers and teaching basic skills and safety to them in a friendly manner. They will interact directly with guests and other employees throughout each trip for long periods of time and must do so in a friendly and helpful way.
Camp Cook
The following is a brief outline of duties and requirements for this position, for a more thorough discussion and to apply, please contact Chris:
- Cooking skills: menu planning, meal prep, feeding 10-15 people for three meals a day, up to 10 days at a time, and kitchen cleanup. Camp and/or backcountry wilderness cooking is preferred, but training may be an option
- Organizational skills: maintain the manage the food and kitchen boxes to assure they are properly stocked and packed as the camp moves regularly.
- Personal skills: excellent communication skills, comfort working with a team as well as independently, a willingness to provide friendly conversation to camp guests over long periods of time, an understanding of or willingness to learn wilderness safety
